Words on a Screen

from We Are Unhappy Now by Harborer

about

i made this song after listening to the radiohead song Scatterbrain on repeat for a little less than an hour.

the verse chord progression came from my head a couple weeks before recording the song, it's kind of a modified modulated version of the piano part on Great Gig in the Sky. the chorus progression i wrote probably around 3 years ago noodling around in a guitar store. it, a weird country progression, and this crazy prog rock riff (that may be on the next album) were gonna be part of one 9 minute 3 part song. i nixed that idea. its sort of a Starship Trooper ripoff.

the lyrics are my attempt to write a love song without using pronouns. i kinda fucked up towards the end but i felt it was necessary. oh well

lyrics

thoughts across the country
chair squeaking, no other sounds
nothing is even breathing
can’t keep it down
what is the purpose
to even be without being

rightfully set down on the kitchen floor
words on a screen don’t mean anything
yet, this is needing some more

the illness isn’t real but it seems like it is
may good dreams come to my coronado
this poured out of the mind
what else is there to find
rather a new way to convey what’s behind my eyes

rightfully set down on the kitchen floor
words on a screen don’t mean anything
yet, this is needing some more
