before writing a lot of this album, i took some time to write a bunch of cryptic no-context phrases so whenever i was stumped on lyrics or a general aesthetic to achieve, i could look at them and always find something. the lyrics for this song were born out of me perusing those phrases and picking ones that worked and whittling them into a full song. as soon as i wrote this song i knew it had to be the opener. it's a good way to ease you into this thing. capo on the 11th fret.

i figured it would be kind of funny to let matt kick the album off, mostly because our voices are very similar and everyone is expecting me anyways.

i sing the first verse of this song and i think it adds a nice contrast. playing it live is always fun because i enjoy going wild on the guitar and letting loose at the end.

after ben recorded his vocals for this track, I wanted to see if I could ruin it by doing my own vocals over it and I think I did a pretty good job. hopefully one day it will be released in some form for people to enjoy. anyway, i think this song showcases one of my favorite ben screams and sometimes i just go on my computer and play the isolated scream because it is really funny.
