Fairytale

from Look at My Van Gogh by Matthew Ryan

/

about

Due to my father's chemotherapy I saw a lot fade away. He would call me by his brother's name. I remember when my father told me he had cancer that before he even said anything it was something bad because of his tears. You know something is bad when your parents are crying. At least this is true with my parents. Seeing death ahead but not knowing when it would show up. The image of him in a hospital bed in the living room will be cemented in my mind.

lyrics

I think it's time to talk
You called me by your brother
And its not your fault its the medicine
Oh its numbing
To watch my idea of life
See it turn itself inside out
I could see it ahead
Mauled and stumbling in the dark
And I knew the danger by your tears
What can I say about death
That hasn’t been said before
Dead on arrival

Oh I’m horrified
Oh I’m mortified
Oh I’m horrified
Oh I’m mortified
At the sight of you dead
With eyes wide open
